Groups > Children's Liturgy / Little Church

The whole point of the children’s liturgy is for leaders to put across the Gospel message. Using different approaches and an appropriate level of language we enable small people to understand ‘the message’, more fully.

There are appropriate posters and children’s work on the walls.

Sessions usually begin with an introduction, questions and answers, followed by various activities, including the Gospel Story, which is supported with a range of age appropriate resources, for example, pictures, cards and decorations to make, pencils, crayons, handouts, and singing with actions.

St John Stone's 'Little Church'

Attendance at Little Church varies from 20 to 45 children, sometimes more, depending on the time of the year.

It has been agreed that in our Little Church

  • We will cater for unaccompanied pre-school and primary school children, we are aware some children will need your encouragement to achieve this.
  • We will all gather at the foot of the altar and leave process to Little Church together.
  • A notice board in the church porch enables us to keep everybody well informed and up to date with newsletters, etc.

We firmly believe that this approach is in the nest interest of all children and the only way to take us forward in line with the Archdiocesan requirements. Each family can rest assured that their youngsters will, be well cared for, treated as individuals, and with the respect that they so rightly deserve.
